The rules of Yams 5 and 6

1) How the game works

The game of Yams is played with 5 dice (or 6 dice in Yams 6) numbered from 1 to 6. The aim of the game is to score as many points as possible using dice combinations.

Each player rolls the dice 3 times, and can keep the dice of their choice between each roll. If they are satisfied with their first or second roll, they do not have to roll the dice again.

Each round is therefore made up of the following actions:

1. Roll the dice 1 to 3 times
2. Keep the dice(s) between each roll
3. Validate a roll by clicking on the score sheet

2) The different types of points

The numbers

This simply consists of achieving as many points as possible for each dice value. 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s and 6s.

Example: You roll 4 times the value 2. You therefore score 4x2 = 8 points in the 2 box.

Bonus Number:

If the cumulative points scored from 1 to 6 is 63 points or more in Yams 5 and 70 points or more in Yams 6, you then win an additional bonus of 35 points which will be added to your total score.

Combinations in Yams 5:

• Three of a kind: 3 dice of identical value. The points scored correspond to the addition of the 3 dice of the same value.
• The square: 4 dice of identical value. The points scored correspond to the addition of the 4 dice of the same value.
• The full house (25 points): 3 dice of identical value and 2 dice of identical value. For example: 44422.
• The sequence 4 (30 points): 4 dice in a row. 1234 or 2345 or 3456.
• The sequence 5 (40 points): 5 dice in a row. 12345 or 23456.
• Luck: it is a kind of wild card. When none of the possibilities satisfy you, you can simply write down the sum of your 5 dice in the chance box.
• Yams (50 points): 5 dice of identical value.

Combinations in Yams 6:

• The square: 4 dice of identical value. The points scored correspond to the addition of the 4 dice of the same value.
• The sequence 5 (40 points): 5 dice in a row. 12345 or 23456.
• The full house (25 points): 3 dice of identical value and 2 dice of identical value. For example: 44422.
• 2 three of a kind (40 points): 2 times 3 dice of identical value. For example 111666 or 444222.
• Luck: this is a kind of wild card. When no possibility satisfies you, you can simply write down the sum of your 5 dice in the luck box.
• Yams (50 points): 5 dice of identical value.
• Yams 6 dice (70 points): 6 dice of identical value.

Players take turns. As soon as they have each completed their 13 dice rounds, the total scores are recorded and the game is over. The winning player is the one who has achieved the most points.
